One of the gigs just before Christmas gave me the excuse to talk about a bit of kit I've used quite a bit over the last year or so. I already said that I took a PA rig over to Lowestoft and didn't have to use it, as they had one in the venue. Who'd be a soundman?
I did end up using our own monitor system though, as well as our own desk (one we hire from MSL - the company who do all Jools Holland's shows). The desk is a Yamaha M7CL. I gave a stereo feed to the in-house PA, so I was slightly at the mercy of the mid scoop-happy venue engineer. I [ read more.. ]

Greg Thompson has been a pro audio engineer for about 15 years. He cites his first love as making rock records. He's worked with artists like 50 Cent, Iggy Pop, Norah Jones, The Killers, Pink, Sherryl Crow, and more than a careers worth of others.
"I'm the chief engineer at Kampo in Greenwich Village. I work regularly as a crew member on ABC's Good Morning America, on the Record Plant Remote truck, and I freelance when I can. I spent a long time at the now defunct NYC Hit Factory, but we don't like to talk about that."

AKG have a new microphone designed for women. More specifically, its frequency response is tailored to respond to the characteristics the female voice. Presumably the Elle C is going to be used by a spice girl.
